A small amount of water — about a cup or less, pooled around the drain — is actually normal and helps keep the pump seal from drying out. But if you're seeing a significant puddle covering the bottom of the tub, something is preventing your dishwasher from draining properly. Don’t assume the appliance needs to be replaced. Standing water can result from something relatively simple, such as a clogged filter, but it can also indicate a problem with the drain hose, garbage dispo
